A brace from Jeremy Brockie secured victory in the second leg and their spot in the MTN8 final.
However, the SuperSport coach was pleased with the overall performance from his side, particularly in the second half when Maritzburg threatened.
"Not only [experience], it was also a lot of work. We knew we needed to match them for effort today and I felt we done that," Tinkler told SuperSport TV.
"The boys really put in a hard shift. First we said we needed to go at them, needed to be creative, we needed to look to get behind them and we done that and got the two goals.
"Second half, they had to take more risks but I thought defensively we were very good. Once or twice they get in behind us but I don't think they really threatened, so I have to be very happy overall with the performance of the team."
