Eric Tinkler expects cautious Bidvest Wits ahead of MTN8 second leg semi-final

The Clever Boys take a healthy 3-0 lead to Cape Town Stadium, which opposing coach Tinkler feels they will be more than happy to suit on.

“I think they will come with a cautious approach,” he said. “We had a very good penalty shout in the first half (of the first leg) that had it been given would have led to a much different result. Individual errors cost us two goals.”

Tinkler said he had not been surprised that Wits coach Gavin Hunt had made several changes to his line-up on Tuesday when the club drew 0-0 away at Polokwane City.

“He was resting older players and he’s done that a lot before. I would expect him to come out with much the same team that he had in the first leg for our game,” Tinkler added.

On City’s own plans for Saturday’s second leg at the Cape Town Stadium, Tinkler hinted at giving several fringe players an opportunity.

“There will be a few changes,” he said with an eye on Tuesday’s match away against Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership. “You’ve always got that game in the back of your mind and so Saturday is an opportunity to see some new faces in the starting XI.”

Kick-off is set for 20:15.
