The 31-year-old attacker is no stranger to matches of this nature, having already competed in 12 cup finals – four with SuperSport United and eight during his five years at Orlando Pirates.
The Port Elizabeth-born winger has come out victorious in five of these, lifting the MTN8 trophy on two previous occasions with the Buccaneers, while also boasting five consecutive league titles to his name.
Klate, however, has downplayed his prior success and says he is fully focussed on helping The Clever Boys end their six-year trophy droubt.
"I've actually lost count [of how many finals I've played in] and, as you can see, there has been a lot of disappointments amongst the success over the years," he tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"It's not only about me, but [tomorrow's final] is about the team. Bidvest Wits deserves something and I'd like to become a part of the club's history by winning the cup for them.
"I'll only reflect on my personal success once I'm done playing and then count and see how much I've won and lost."
The former PSL player of the season has three times beaten Wits in a cup final, while still playing for SuperSport and Pirates, but hopes he can be the lucky charm on this occasion.
"I've actually forgotten about the previous finals where we've I've been on the opposite side and ended up beating Wits, but hopefully this time I'll be able to contribute towards helping them win," he adds.
Klate has always enjoyed playing against The Brazilians, having scored a brace in their 4-2 Absa Premiership defeat last season, but credits Pitso Mosimane's side for their recent displays and says it is only fitting that the two best sides from last season meet in the first cup final of the new season.
"I must give credit to Sundowns. They would probably back themselves as favourites too, but it's only fitting that the two best teams from last season face each other in the cup final this season," he says.
"They obviously beat us to the league as well, so I think that too gives us extra motivation for the match tomorrow."
Klate also feels it is important that they do not get ahead of themselves, having started the season off on a high, while admitting that momentum has been lost due to their recent period of inactivity.
"Yes, we've done well so far. The new players have contributed a lot but we can't get carried away with a few performances. This final will count a lot in showing how far we've come.
"The momentum has also tipped against us because we haven't played [since last week Wednesday], which might come as a good thing for Sundowns because they would have felt they deserved a bit of a break after their exploits in Africa.
"But it's important that we focus on ourselves and continue with the winning mentality. We'd obviously like a cleansheet but a game of goals would make for an exciting game," concludes Klate.
Kick-off of the clash on Saturday is set for 17h00 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
