Andries Sebola says Josef Zinnbauer's job is on the line ahead of MTN8 semi-finals

The Buccaneers start the battle against Kaizer Chiefs in a two-legged semi-final affair today (15h00), with the winner to face either defending champions SuperSport United or Bloemfontein Celtic.

Pirates have failed to win a trophy since lifting the Nedbank Cup in 2014 and Sebola is convinced Zinnbauer will be relieved of his duties if his side fails to beat Chiefs.

"As for the coach, they bought a lot of players for him, so he's still looking for the combination, unfortunately time is against him," Sebola tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"The semi-final against Chiefs, if he were to lose these two games, I don't see him staying at Orlando Pirates because it's very crucial that Pirates get the trophy this season. If he doesn't win the cup, he is gone. He is so gone.

"The only thing that I can say is that you can't allow a player like [Luvuyo] Memela to leave, because he was creating the chances for strikers. His combination with Gabadinho Mhango, it was good.

"So now he's gone, you could see even last week when they were playing with AmaZulu they struggled to create chances because he was giving Pirates' defence more problems. Another one that I think needs to pick his game up is Vincent Pule."

Sebola says he doesn't see his former team getting a win against Amakhosi in the first leg on Saturday afternoon.

"The way I see it, Chiefs played better on Tuesday [against Chippa United]. Because it's still a first leg, if it's not a draw then Chiefs will win. But the way I see it Chiefs is going to control the game. As for Pirates I couldn't make sense what they were doing [against Stellenbosch]," he adds.

"They were not creating chances and Gabadinho Mhango was not getting a supply due to Pirates' midfield keeping the ball more in their own half. Chiefs created a lot of chances, it was only the goalposts that prevented them from winning by many goals.

"So in the first leg if it's not a draw, Chiefs will win. They played better compared to Pirates."
