Segolela opens up on new role

Tlou Segolela is ready for his new role in football after being appointed as head coach at Platinum City Rovers.

Segolela has started his new career as a head coach on a high note after leading Rovers to two wins both in the league and the Nedbank Cup tournament.

'Sox' got his first win in the Motsepe Foundation Championship when Bakone beat Pretoria Callies by 1-0 in Pretoria on Friday to move away from the relegation zone.

Segolela  served Platinum City Rovers as a General Manager before being handed the coaching reigns at Bakone last week.

"As I said before my journey depends on the next match. My journey is my next match, that's how my coaching career would be," Segolela said to KickOff.

"It's not that different before we got to this level, I have been in this situation where where were working closely with our former coach when we got promoted, and then after that we changed things and I went to the office.

"I was surprised when the chairman said now I need to be in charge. I always miss the grass, I miss the smell of the grass and being on the grass for quite some time," he added.

Meanwhile, Platinum City Rovers coach Tlou Segolela has warned his charge not to be carried away after winning their last two games in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and the Nedbank Cup.

"It's important not to be carried away and you need to want it more in the league. If don't win the games you will be relegated. It's not easy to come back to this league. The main thing now is to get out of relegation one," he added.

Rovers are set to take on log leaders Orbit College in their next league match in Vaal on Saturday.
