Papi Zothwane makes dramatic return to management

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Papi Zothwane has been reappointed as the head coach of Motsepe Foundation Championship side Uthongathi FC.

Uthongathi announced on Tuesday that former manager Papi Zothwane had been brought back for a second stint in charge as the club looks to continue its push towards securing promotion to the DStv Premiership.

"Our new Head Coach Papi Zothwane. Welcome back to our family," the second division side announced across its social media platforms on Tuesday.

Zothwane's return to Uthongathi comes just days after he surprisingly parted ways with the Motsepe Foundation Championship's table-topping side Polokwane City where he had been at the helm since the start of the season.

City currently hold a three point lead over Hungry Lions at the summit and have a game in hand, while they are eight points ahead of Uthongathi in the league standings.

Zothwane first joined the Kwa-Zulu Natal-based outfit in September 2020 when he was appointed as assistant manager to Pitso Dladla before taking custody of the reins at the start of the 2021/22 campaign, which he held until the end of the season before his move to Polokwane.
