Leopards line up Dhlakama to take over from Masutha

Struggling Motsepe Foundation Championship club Black Leopards have lined up Rodwell Dhlakama as their next head coach following a horrible start to the season under Joel Masutha.

Masutha guided the club from the relegation zone last season after collecting 22 points from the last 24 available to play for.

However, Leopards have again started slowly just like they did last season when they won just once from the opening 10 games under.

So bad was their campaign last season that they only had three wins after 22 games before their strong finish ultimately led to them finishing in position nine.

They changed coaches from Morgan Shivambu and Mongezi Bone to Benson Mhlongo and Floyd Mogale, but results were not forthcoming until Masutha arrived even though he also started badly.

This season, Leopards have won one and lost five from their opening six league games and are already bottom of the standings.

Dhlakama sat on the stands in the latest defeat over the weekend as Shivambu ran the rule from the bench on a caretaker basis assisted by goalkeeper coach Sam Banda.

Masutha was suspended last week after yet another loss to Casric Stars which prompted the club to immediately react.

Besides the line of disappointing results, there have been issues raised about his conduct and command of the dressing room.

Dhlakama was most recently in charge of ZPC Kariba who are also not clear of their survival chances in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.

He left Kariba last week on Thursday after requesting to take leave and is now in the process of acquiring his work permit before he officially stars.
