The 34-year-old made 21 appearances last season for Rovers and had initially been set for an ambassadorial role at the club this term.

A bad start to the season for Rovers has now scuppered those retirement plans with Manyisa featuring in his side's recent 3-2 defeat at Hungry Lions.

The former Pirates star occupied his usual holding midfielder role with his impressive performance receiving rave reviews in Kimberley.

As it stands, Manyama will now be expected to continue contributing on the field of play to alleviate the club's early struggles.

Rovers have lost their first four games and are said to be struggling financially to pay the salaries of their first-team squad.

Manyisa remains a legendary figure at Orlando Pirates while also featuring for Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United.

The Bafana international's conduct at Rovers has been praised with his influence evident both on and off the field.
