Siyabonga Zulu's arrival at Motsepe Foundation Championship club La Masia has resuscitation written all over as he returns to the professional game four years since he played in these ranks.
For all the promise that Zulu showed as he came through the ranks at Pirates, his career didn't blossom and has spent the past few years hogging headlines for non-related issues.

A deft left foot had many anticipating that he could rise to become even a regular with Bafana Bafana after winning his first cap aged 21.
Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case as he spent time at Blackburn Rovers, Sivutsa Stars, and United FC in the first division before spells at Chippa United and Platinum Stars led to his move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Zulu's time at Sundowns turned into a mess playing just thrice and failing to last even last a year.
Next up was another three-match spell with Black Leopards at the beginning of the 2019/20 season.
Since then, it has been a downward spiral dominated by the continuation of off field issues.

However, for all those off field controversies, Zulu now has another chance just weeks after he turned 30.

La Masia will provide the rehabilitation platform with Daine Klate in charge while Zulu will have to prove that he can put the opportunity into good use for the sake of his football career.
