Rulani takes a leaf out of Mourinho's book

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has asked for the supporters to be patient with one of this season's signings.

Sundowns got back to winning ways after edging Royal AM 1-0 thanks to a late goal by Peter Shalulile.

"Congratulations to the football club, an important three points. I think as coaches we're performance barometers and if I were to measure the performance, I'm extremely pleased, would be even more pleasurable had we been a little bit more effective in the final third," Mokwena said on SuperSport.

"We played with a bit more anxiety but I also think we adopt a coach's personality. We look to be too much of perfectionists  and sometimes it's just a simple pass, a simpler decision. But the build ups, the schemes that we tried were very good. I'm very happy for the boys and happy with the result," he said.

With the game deadlocked up until the last five minutes, Nku came off the bench and made an immediate impact after his cross was converted by Shalulile.

Mokwena spoke highly of the former Marumo Gallants, but says he must be given time.

"Three, four games in a row, it's something we've been speaking about and it was actually started by (Siyabonga) Mabena because Mabena was the only one who could impact the game from the bench and then it became a topic to say 'Guys, if the young one can do it what more?'," Mokwena said on substitutes changing the game.

"And now Lesiba Nku in two games in a row has done exceptionally well (off the bench). You know there was a moment when Jose Mourinho was coaching Real Madrid and he asked the Madrid fans to be patient with Luka Modric.

"Luka Modric went on to become probably one of the best players in the history of Real Madrid and I'm going to do something very similar. I'm gonna ask the Sundowns supporters to be a little bit patient with Lesiba Nku. He is very special. He just needs time. If he adapts and takes…They must be a little bit patient, they will see why we signed him," he said.
