Cardoso: Supporters must be entertained

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso was happy with his side's 4-0 victory over Richards Bay FC in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Sunday.

A brace from Iqraam Rayners, an own-goal from Simphiwe Mcineka with the other effort from young Siyabonga Mabena got them over the line in Atteridgeville.

Cardoso added he was pleased that the encounter didn’t drag to the final minutes after a shortened pre-season.

“Obviously, it was important to start strong. We made two weeks preparations so we knew that taking the game for the last stages, last minutes or even for extra-time will never be good for us,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV.

“But I think the team understand the message, we started very strong, scored and it was important to manage some of the situations we had.

“Some substitutions that we needed to make, managing so that we can keep the pace, congratulations to the players,” added the Portuguese tactician.

The late kick-off and chilly weather conditions didn’t hamper the supporters coming in numbers to the stands, with Cardoso claiming they were treated to a good game of football.

“I think it was an interesting game for even the people on the stands on a cold night, hot game well we expect that in the future it continues.

“Yes, I think people deserve a good game, spectacle, football must also excite people. Both teams performed well and congratulations for them to be here on such a good night,” Cardoso said.
