Tau, 22, enjoyed an eventful match, as he received a caution and netted soon after replacing fellow goalscorer Kermit Erasmus in the 3-1 win at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Dolly, who recently traded Downs for Montpellier in Ligue One, told SABC TV: "Obviously it feels good to represent my country, coming back home in front of our supporters, and winning the game most of all. I think overall it was a good team performance. I am happy for Percy Tau; first cap and he scores a goal. It is inspiring for other youngsters, it proves the future is bright in South African football."
Tau actually played two games for Bafana Bafana in the African Nations Championship qualifiers in October 2015, so was making his third appearance.
Bafana next host Angola in East London on Tuesday (19h00) looking to extend their unbeaten record.
