The Portuguese tactician faced criticism after leaving Zwane out of both legs of the CAF Champions League final against Pyramids FC, where Downs ultimately lost 3-2 on aggregate to the Egyptian side.
The Tshwane giants played to a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg, before suffering a 2-1 defeat in Cairo to the Champions League newbies.
Following the loss, many Sundowns fans and South African football supporters in general, voiced frustration over Zwane’s omission, believing the 35-year-old playmaker, affectionately known as Mshishi, could have made a crucial difference.
In what seems to be a subtle response to the backlash, Cardoso posted a photo of himself alongside Zwane on Instagram, perhaps signaling unity and dispelling any talk of a rift.
