Downs 2025/26 kits spark debate: Is there no change?

Mamelodi Sundowns' newly released 2025/26 kits have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with some users pointing out similarities to previous seasons designs.

The story

The Brazilians unveiled their latest kits on Thursday. While many Sundowns supporters welcomed the launch, reactions from rival club fans were more critical, particularly aimed at kit manufacturer Puma.

According to Masandawana and Puma, the new design reflects the club’s distinctive style of play, with updates that are described as subtle rather than drastic.

This season’s home jersey retains the club’s traditional yellow, incorporating only minor adjustments, such as small design changes under the arms.

Since the 2021/22 season, the club has consistently introduced kits featuring modifications to the neckline, sleeve trim, and chest detailing, often maintaining a similar overall aesthetic.

Despite that, some social media users, including fans of rival teams such as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, have questioned the lack of significant visual change.

Fresh from their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign, Sundowns will kick start the new season with an MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Richards Bay at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, August 3.
