MaMkhize: Football can kill you

Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize said that she breathed a sigh of relief when the DStv Premiership season came to a close and her club survived the drop.

Thwihli Thwahla finished 13th on the table with 33 points, surviving relegation by just two points, thereby securing themselves top-flight football for another season.

Speaking after the last round of PSL fixtures which closed the curtains on the 2023/24 season, the South African socialite expressed her relief after a stressful period of time.

"Sporting a smile and breathing in a deep sigh of relief as we drew to an end, this challenging soccer season - a weight lifted off our shoulders," she wrote on Instagram.

"Now, I can savour the little joys without the looming threat of relegation! Echoing the famous words of Coach Thobejane, 'Football can kill you, a real death.'"

Another familiar face, Mama Joy, popped up in the comment section, agreeing to the fact that it has been an arduous season for the club, and thanking the owner for her role in keeping them up.

"It was tough Thanks Ma," the super fan wrote.

After a run of seven games without a victory, Royal AM showed up when it really mattered and beat Moroka Swallows by two goals to one to maintain their status as a PSL club.

Mam'Mkhize will be hoping that next season will be as sweet as the ice cream she had in her hand as she posed for the social media photo by not having to end the season on such a stressful note.
