Krunoslav Jurcic's men held Miguel Cardoso’s star-studded Sundowns to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Tshwane, before sealing the deal with a thrilling 2-1 victory in the return leg in Cairo.
Seemingly written off by many before the tournament even began, Pyramids proved their mettle by upsetting heavyweights like Orlando Pirates en route to the final.
And now, having vanquished Sundowns, they have earned the right to be called the kings of African football.
