Why are players abroad not considered for Amajita squad?

Ex-Marumo Gallants boss Raymond Mdaka was recently confirmed as the new head coach of the SA U20 team, which is set to begin a training camp later this month in preparation for the U20 AFCON qualifiers. The tactician will be assisted by coaches Donald Mojaki, Karabo Mogudi, and former Kaizer Chiefs playmaker Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Notably, the 41-man squad does not include any youngster playing abroad, which has led to a few questions about the selection

Uwais Saeed, a teenager born in KwaZulu-Natal and plays in Portugal for UFC Moitense has noted the complete omission of South African stars playing abroad. In a post on X that he has since deleted, the 2005-born star remarked at the squad, writing: "What about us players playing abroad? Hmm interesting."

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs' Mfundo Vilakazi headlines the squad alongside several highly-rated talents such as Shandre Campbell of SuperSport United,  Luphumlo Sifumba of Cape Town City, and Luke Baartman of Cape Town Spurs.

The exclusion of overseas players has left many seeming puzzled over the decision.
