Fans react to Msimango's apology

With Given Msimango apologising to Kaizer Chiefs supporters after the side's surprise loss to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford in the Nedbank Cup, KickOff readers have shared their very honest opinions.

What's the story

The Round of 32 defeat saw them being booted from the competition, leaving the Amakhosi faithful disappointed.

Speaking at the team's media open day on Thursday, the centre-back acknowledged that the team had let its supporters down and insisted that inside the dressing room, the squad had taken responsibility for the shock result.

Check out what the KO readers had to say:

"He will apologize the whole season because they are just playing friendlies and I don't think they will reach 50 points," says Sixolile Sxo Ngomthi.

"Nothing was shocking, it was something honest supporters should have expected. If you want a winning team you invest in buying or developing your players," says Ookeditse Mp Maphorisa.

"For the past 10 years we have been getting nothing but apologies from our players! Wow it hurts," says Blessing Thabethe.

"Nedbank cup was the last cup we think maybe we may reach the semi-finals but to be knocked out in the last 32 was something else. An apology alone is not enough, because even in the last league games I don't see them winning even four games. Mxm," says Olebogeng Olebs Lucas.

"That one is worse... He is not even trying. Every time he has the ball, he doesn't pass forward," says Ernest Nkosi Xolani.

"Apologies FC," writes Bonginkosi Shongwe.

"We don't want thier apology. All we want is the wins, that's all. Nothing else. We know in football that you win some, draw some and loose some, but they keep on losing games they were supposed to win now and then come back to apologize," says Thabang Chabana.

"Their newest Nick Name is Apology FC," says Matome Makgobatlou.

"I remember the time you joined this Drunkard FC, you said you joined them because you want to win cups. I wonder if you were not drunk when you made that statement. Look at you now. You are apologising instead of winning trophies," says Samkelo Tsholoba.

"Strikers should be the ones apologising," says Tholang Ramatlali.

Meanwhile, ahead of his side's final Group D encounter against the Egyptian giants int he CAF Champions League on Friday evening, Young Africans vice-president Arafat Ally Haji has insisted that South Africa's Percy Tau, who is believed to be in line to sign a lucrative new deal in Egypt, is Al Ahly's most dangerous player.

"Al Ahly has many distinguished players in all positions, but the player I liked most is Percy Tau," the club chief said.

Here's how the KO reader responded:

"I think it's unfair to judge him based on the recent Afcon tournament. Many of the so called superstars didn't show up at the tournament, not only him. He remains a great player," says Bongani Mgubela.

"Dom Kops will always drag him for his AFCON form," says Wisani Mathebula.

"Some women are good as girlfriends not as wives, Percy is good at club level more than national team," says Mcdonald Goza.

"Most dangerous in Egypt perhaps because in AFCON, he was rather a cost to our squad and contributed on both our losses. So yeah, thanks to him," says Mbizo Pitso.

"Sundowns, Chiefs, and Pirates fans criticized him for AFCON games because they wanted their Maema, Dolly, and Lorch respectively. They are all not in his level.Yes he did not perform very well, but he did better. Better than all the above mentioned," says Lindelani 'Lee' Boyabenyathi.

"South African fans got short memories. You guys need 32G memory stick in your heads," says Amos Dasheka.

"Meanwhile most Hollywood bet SA fans always blame him for nothing, Tau is a top player," says Zithembe Ngobese.

"Who would've thought that a South African can go to the mighty Al Ahly of Egypt and be hailed as the king! All hail king Tau, the lion of Witbank," says Ta Mzi.
