Former Orlando Pirates defender Lucky Lekgwathi marked his 49th birthday in style last Friday, and here is how the celebration unfolded.

Affectionately known as Phinda Mzala, the legendary ex-Buccaneers captain, widely regarded as one of South Africa’s greatest footballers, turned 49 on August 1st.

Lekgwathi chose a river getaway, as the venue for his birthday getaway.
Now a successful entrepreneur and owner of Grootman restaurant, he shared glimpses of his celebration on social media, posting photos and videos of himself soaking up the sun and vibrant atmosphere.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME," Lekgwathi wrote.
"Legends are born in August 01.
"This is the day that the Lord has made for me to rejoice in it."
Born in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, Lekgwathi remains an iconic figure in South African football, having captained Pirates to a historic double treble during his time with the club.
