Cape Verde has received a huge confidence boost ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final against Bafana Bafana, as one of their leading musicians released a song on Thursday to honour their performance at the tournament.
The story
It isn't everyday when you see a musician release a tribute song for their national team just days before they play a crucial knockout clash in one of the biggest sports tournaments.
However, an artist from the island nation, Giio Ghost, dropped a song titled 10 Strelas (10 Stars in Portuguese) on YouTube on Thursday. The music video features highlights of the Blue Sharks' games at the tournament so far, including clips of their goals against Egypt, Ghana, Mozambique, and Mauritania.

The video already has nearly six thousand views in its first 2024 hours and was also shared on the national team's official Instagram account.
Giio Ghost along with his fellow collaborators look buzzing, as their uptempo track has many dancing in the country's famous blue colours.
There's certainly a lot at stake for the team, as they will be hoping to reach the semi-final of AFCON for the first time in their history. The side has multiple reasons to be confident over the fixture against Bafana, as they beat South Africa 2-1 in their last last meeting in Durban in 2017.
Their head-to-head record is evenly matched though, as they have played five times, with two wins each and a draw.
Hugo Broos' defence needs to be on high alert as Cape Verde have scored in every game in the competition so far.
The match kicks off at 10pm South African time on Saturday, 3 February.
