'They must allow him to choose his own players' - Chiefs urged to hand Zwane control

Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulon Nhlapo insists the club should allow head coach Arthur Zwane to sign his own players after an underwhelming maiden campaign.

Nhlapo says this is the time the club management need to show their support to Zwane after the abuse he suffered from fans on Saturday.

Nhlapo doubts if Christian Saile and Caleb Bimenyimana were Zwane's signings.

"I didn't like what the supporters did to Arthur, they must give him a chance," Nhlapo tells KickOff.

"Arthur has beaten Pirates how many times? Now he loses only one game against Pirates he's been labelled a bad person.

"Fourth position in a rebuilding season is not so bad. I'm glad Kaizer Motaung's children are behind him.

"Arthur didn't instruct players to miss goals. If you look carefully, our strikers have not yet settled.

"Recently against Pirates the number 21 [Christian Saile] missed clear goals.

"Just recently nobody wanted to hear even the name Ngezana. But right now, just look at how Arthur helped him regain his confidence.

"What the club should do now is to support Arthur. They must allow him to buy his own players.

"I don't think he is the one who bought the two strikers, I'm talking about the number 21 and that other one Bimenyimana.

"Even in our generation we did have a bad run, there was a stage where we lost by five goals from the likes of AmaZulu and Bloemfontein Celtic. We also struggled.

"They must allow him to choose his own players."

Amakhosi are expected to make a decision this week on Zwane's future in Naturena.

Speaking to this publication, football manager Bobby Motaung said the club is planning to release a statement about Saturday's incident.

"We will make a statement soon. I'm not in the office right now, I'm at Alex Tshakoane's funeral. We will issue a statement on Tuesday, like as a club."
