'The attitude is totally different' - Madida admits to being more beloved in Turkey

Legendary South African striker Fani Madida agrees that he is shown more appreciation by fans in Turkey than back home in South Africa.

Madida spent a spell in Turkey during the 90s while being highly-rated for his scoring exploits for household sides Besiktas, Bursaspor and Antalyaspor.

Madida became the first player to secure a transfer to the Turkish topflight after impressive goalscoring exploits for Kaizer Chiefs in a title-winning campaign back in 1992.

"I don't know, but the attitude is totally different. Maybe here at home there is more familiarity," Madida told the Marawa Sports Worldwide show.

"South African footballers that starred abroad, the like Lucas Radebe are held in high esteem too at the clubs where they played.

"Exactly, (on Lucas Radebe's allegiance to Leeds United) Sibusiso Zuma – Denmark. My peers in Turkey are coaching professional teams as we speak. Five or six of them," the former striker stated.

Since hanging up his boots way back in 2000, Madida has undertaken various projects such as a pundit with a national broadcaster and stints on the bench at Chiefs and Swallows FC notably.
