Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino has given his opinion about the subject of becoming available for Bafana Bafana selection.
Sirino has been eligible for Bafana Bafana selection since the beginning of 2023 through naturalization by residence after he received his South African ID and passport.

The 34-year-old has been in Mzansi since January 2018 and his eligibility comes on the back of having been capped for Uruguay – who are two-time world champions and have been ranked second through their best years.
"Of course, everyone wants to play for a national team," responds Sirino when asked by this website about the Bafana subject on Monday before training at the Kaizer Chiefs Village.
"So, I’m here now with a possibility of playing for Bafana Bafana.
"But the hard thing is that I’m not young and we have too many good players here, so that is the reality with regards to Bafana Bafana.
"I think Bafana Bafana are good now and they play very good and different, so that is good," he notes.
Reality for Sirino is that in Uruguay he has never come close to being selected, especially now that he has been playing his football in South Africa for almost a decade.
"Uruguay is a small country with about 3,5 million peoplel but we have too many good players.
"All the national team players are with big clubs, so it is difficult for us to get the chance.

"At times, you need luck to play in the national team, but reality is that in Uruguay there are too many players at the top level," says Sirino, whose family is settled in South Africa.
"I’m very happy with my family here.
"Everyone is like my family now, so I’m very happy," he adds.
