Chiefs defender caught up in cause for concern situation

Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has sunk into a situation of worry at the club having now come within four months of completing a year without competitive football minutes.

Kwinika has not played any official football this season with his last slice of action having come on May 18 when he was given 76 minutes by Cavin Johnson.

This means by the time Chiefs play their next match, he will have surpassed eight months since he last played.

It is a situation of concern for the 31-year-old that he has been available for selection throughout all of this time.

Worse is that he has now entered the last six months of his contract at the club.

The January transfer window now provides an option of departure for Kwinika, who is now into his third season back at Naturena.

His name has been mentioned as a possibility at Magesi FC, who need defensive reinforcements in the bid to survive the drop.

Kwinika is evidently not a preferred choice for Nasreddine Nabi in the two positions that he can play at central defence and right-back.

On the right side of centre-back, Amakhosi have Inacio Miguel and Given Msimango as solid options, while at right-back, there is the trio of Reeve Frosler, Dillan Solomons and Njabulo Blom.
