With two wins on the bounce, Kaizer Chiefs have been warned by a former Bafana Bafana captain not to get ahead of themselves, with the majority of matches still yet to be played.
Amakhosi continued their bright start to the season with a 1-0 win over Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening. New signing Siphesihle Ndlovu provided the match-winning goal.
The win takes Chiefs up to second spot on the Betway Premiership table.
The Amakhosi faithful could be forgiven for having a spring in their step, after all, the Glamour Boys are one of just four teams that have won their opening two fixtures this season.
However, reviewing the match on SuperSportTV's ExtraTime, Former Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United captain Bongani Khumalo warned that although Amakhosi show signs of a winning team, there are still cracks in the foundation.
"It is very good (Chiefs' recent form), but it is important for the players to keep their feet on the ground," Khumalo said.
"It is a very long season; it is not a cup competition.
"So as much as there is joy and there is ease in how they have started, there is still a lot of work to be done. The performance against Stellenbosch was not a great performance, but it was a wonderful result.
"This time [against Polokwane City], the first half was not great, the second half was a lot better.
"So there are signs that something is brewing, so it is important that they remain calm and most importantly, stick together and see it through."
Chiefs' resolve will be tested as early as Tuesday evening when they take on Richards Bay at FNB Stadium.
Match kick-off is scheduled for 19:30
