'Where are Chiefs going to get 6 quality players?'

With opinions pouring in on what Kaizer Chiefs need to do in order to turn their fortunes around, a former PSL coach has dismissed suggestions recently made by the club's ex-mentor, Muhsin Ertugral.

Chiefs have not lived up to expectations with their newly assembled technical team, after being knocked out of the first cup tournament they competed for, losing 4-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.

The was their third loss overall in seven games and there is already skepticism on whether the team can compete for other titles this season.

Further suggestions have been that the current squad lacks quality and that the Soweto giants would need to strengthen before they can seriously challenge for honours.

However, Dylan Kerr, who came up against Nasreddine Nabi's former team Young Africans in the CAF Confederation Cup, believes the side have the players to compete and revealed the difference between them and the rival duo of Orlando Pirates and Sundowns.

"Chiefs spent a lot of money in this coaching technical team. He [Nabi] has the tools, he has the players. I've just read Muhsin saying Chiefs need six quality players. Where are you going to get these six quality players? If you look at players Chiefs have, there's quality there. It's about momentum," Kerr said, speaking to KickOff.com.

"Look at Pirates, unbeaten, Sundowns still playing well, dominating, and Sundowns have not changed the squad, Pirates have not really changed the squad, Chiefs have made additions.

"There are some players who have not been playing. [Sibongiseni] Mthethwa has not been playing, [Dillan] Solomons... there's a few others. So, they've got strength in depth in the squad," Kerr insisted.

The league game between Chiefs and Sundowns could have come too soon for Nabi's charges, who were also burdened by playing SuperSport United twice in seven days.
