After playing at a sold-out Athlone Stadium on Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs will get back to the reality of playing at their home matches at FNB Stadium when they welcome Polokwane City on Wednesday (19:30).
This will be Chiefs’ first game at home for the 2025/26 season and comes with earlier indications that all their fixtures as hosts will be at the giant venue now standing in doubt.

Attendance issues have been the norm at FNB for all Amakhosi encounters not involving Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The club has confirmed that they are offering a season ticket for 10 league games at home, inclusive of the Soweto Derby, at R550.
"Amakhosi supporters can look forward to a golden opportunity this season, as the club officially launches its 2025/26 Season Ticket.
"It’s a premium package that offers much more than match day access.
"For just R550, the ticket grants entry to 10 Kaizer Chiefs Betway Premiership home games at FNB Stadium, including the much-anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates," reads a statement from the Naturena-based outfit.
This leaves their other five games at home hanging and facing the possibility of being played at their alternative home grounds, though the PSL fixtures calendar has their home games in the league all scheduled for the 2010 World Cup final venue.
Their biggest rivals – Pirates – have priced the tickets to all their 15 home matches in the league at R650.
This is inclusive of the Soweto Derby.
They have already played one game at home, which was the defeat to Sekhukhune United on Saturday.
Chiefs have made playing some of their league home games outside their base in Johannesburg a tradition, forcing them to travel even when they are the hosts.
Last season, two home games were at Peter Mokaba Stadium, while three were played at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
For the 2023/24 season, they played 11 home matches in the league at FNB Stadium, then two each at Peter Mokaba and Moses Mabhida.
The previous season, the men in Gold and Black played 10 at FNB, three at Peter Mokaba, and two at Moses Mabhida.
