Swiss striker Ruben del Campo has turned down the opportunity to continue his football career in Canada, a development that could pave the way for Kaizer Chiefs to pounce on him during the current transfer window.
Campo is reported to be on Chiefs' wanted list as they look to bolster their less-than-potent striking force.
The 24-year-old has left Athletico Ottawa after spending two seasons with them.

According to a statement released by the Canadian Premier League side, his contract expired in December last year, and both parties have agreed to part ways.
Del Compo, who also spent time in Spain playing for lower division teams, scored 12 goals and made two assists in 24 matches for Atletico Ottawa.
"Following a period of negotiation, Ottawa has 2025 options for the contracts of goalkeeper Rayane Yesli and defender Zachary Roy. Contracts for Ollie Basset, Ruben del Campo, and Jesus del Amo expired on December 31, 2024," reads a statement by the club.
It remains to be seen if Amakhosi will be able to lure Swiss star to their base in Naturena as head coach Nasreddine Nabi looks forward to improving the club's goal-scoring ratio this season. The Phefeni Glamour Boys have only scored 16 goals in the league thus far.
Meanwhile, Chiefs and Chippa United are currently in negotiations over the services of Christian Saile, which could see the Congolese striker move to Gqeberha this January.

Saile's looming move to Chippa is set to open one more space for the Soweto giants to sign a foreign player.
The Glamour Boys have also been monitoring Congolese forward Basiala Agee.
Amakhosi scout Thembela Maliwa was in the stands when Agee was in action for his team AS Maniema Union against Mamelodi Sundowns during a CAF Champions League group stage match played in Tshwane last year.
