Chiefs keeper gets another stay on ticket

The FIFA international dates will again turn into an avenue of joy for Fiacre Ntwari as he gets ready to play his fifth match for Rwanda since his last appearance at Kaizer Chiefs.

Ntwari has been included in Rwanda’s squad for the friendly match against Algeria on Thursday in Constantine, Algeria.

His selection has come despite what has turned into a trail of misery at Chiefs, where he has not played in seven months.

The towering goalkeeper last played on November 2, 2024, in the 4-0 Carling Knockout hammering by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 25-year-old arrived from TS Galaxy at the beginning of the season and was the first choice, playing seven games.

Unfortunate for him, he was then dropped, with Bruce Bvuma getting the bigger slice of the game-time cake, though Brandon Petersen also had his share, which included the Nedbank Cup final.

All the game-time issues at Chiefs have not led to Ntwari being dropped as he has kept goals in four games for Amavubi since then.

He was between the posts during the two games played in November and then again in March, giving him a count of four international games since he last played club football.
