Chiefs’ all-time top scorers list remains unchanged

Kaizer Chiefs' transfer business has yet again involved the signing of a centre forward as the club seeks to find goalscoring solutions that will shake the order of the club's all-time top scorers throughout the PSL era.

Ranga Chivaviro is the latest acquisition by Chiefs who will be tasked with delivering the goals that could springboard him to the club's top 10 scorers – all of whom are no longer playing for the club.

Chiefs have spent most of the past decade firing blanks in landing reliable scorers capable of breaking into the club's 10 scorers since the PSL was born in August 1996.

Last season it was Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Ashley du Preez but they both couldn't get into double figures in their first season at Naturena.

Before that it was Lazarous Kambole, Emmanuel Letlotlo, Michelle Katsvairo, David Zulu, Ryan Moon, Gustavo Paez, Lewis Macha, Camaldine Abraw, Bongani Ndulula, Edward Manqele, Siphelele Mthembu, Katlego Mphela, S'thembiso Ngcobo, Edwin Sitayitayi, Sakhile Hlongwa, Matthew Rusike, and Kingston Nkhatha.

Colombian forward Leonardo Castro has been the only signing made by the club who has broken into the club's top 10 list of all-time top scorers in the PSL era years.

Castro scored 29 goals in four-and-a-half years at Chiefs but that has been enough to get him into the top 10 scorers at the club.

Top of that is Bernard Parker who scored 62 goals for the club before leaving for TS Galaxy after being offloaded in June 2022.

In second place is Siphiwe Tshabalala who left having scored 58 goals in 11-and-a-half years playing in midfield.

Retired striker Siyabonga Nomvete smashed 48 goals in three years before leaving for Europe while Knowledge Musona had 44 goals through his two spells totalling three years.

Pollen Ndlanya had 39 goals to his name wearing gold and black in the PSL era years while the most productive hitman was Collins Mbesuma who hammered 37 goals through his brief stay at Chiefs.

Thabo Mooki, Kaizer Motaung Jr, and David Radebe all had 35 goals with Arthur Zwane on 32 goals while George Lebese reached 30 goals.

Castro anchors the top 10 with his 29 goals.

The period under review in the compilation of this top runs from August 1996.
