Carling Black Label Cup votes to see Chiefs face Pirates TWICE in two weeks

Rivalries will be renewed when Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates face off twice within a fortnight as the Carling Black Label Cup votes gather pace.

The latest update has thrown a clear indication that Chiefs will battle it out with Pirates at midday on Saturday, November 12 in the second semi-final of the one-day spectacle at FNB Stadium.

According to organisers, the club with the most votes will face the second highest tallied team while third place meets fourth.

The two Soweto giants and the most popular clubs have another league date on Saturday, October 29 – the first that will be played in front of fans since February 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As it stands Chiefs are the runaway leaders as expected as they approach the half a million vote mark while Pirates are in second place with just over 300 000 votes.

The two Soweto giants are expected to reach a combined million votes at the close of voting at midnight on Sunday.

Voting, which is open to all 16 DStv Premiership clubs, closes on Sunday and the next two days are expected to be frantic in the battle to determine who finishes fourth and gets to play Mamelodi Sundowns in the first semi-final at 09:30.

The battle for fourth place appears to be now between AmaZulu and Swallows.

The Carling Black Label Cup has been opened to all

The final will be played at 17:00 while the third place will be decided via a penalty shootout.

Following the conclusion of voting, the four teams to play on the day will be announced on Monday after which fans will then have the choice of selecting the starting XI of their respective teams.

"We would like to encourage football fans to get their tickets and use this final week to vote for the teams that they would like to witness in action in this year's exciting cup.

"Fans and teams may rest assured knowing that the results are as per the fan vote, as with every year, we have worked very closely with auditing form, Grant Thornton to ensure a credible audit of all the votes," says Arne Rust of Carling Black Label.

Both Chiefs and Pirates have new coaches this season in Arthur Zwane and Jose Riveiro.
