Ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder Sepeke Manamela has provided a window into his construction business and urged players to start investing money now.
The 37-year-old, who retired from football in 2016, is currently involved in construction and employs more than 50 people depending on the project.

Manamela encourages players to invest in property and get side-hustles up and running while they still earn a high income.
He says the main undoing of many soccer players is booze and women.

"My first signing-on fee I got from Pirates, I helped at home and bought myself a car. The second signing-on fee, I got married," Manamela tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"In my whole career I used the money to look after my family. I would spend R2 000 on friends and take R15 000 home. I think that's what helped me stay grounded and still have my family even after retirement."
The former University of Pretoria and Mpumalanga Black Aces midfielder says life is tougher for players after football when their level of fame decreases.

"Players must start businesses now and not after football. It's going to be difficult if you start after football," he advises.
"You must start now when people still love you and want to associate with you. It's also easy when you still have an income."
Former Buccaneers defender Gerald Raphahlela is another ex-soccer player doing well in his security and construction company in Limpopo.

Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has started a car wash in Germiston while Highlands Park striker Rodney Ramagalela and Cape Ubuntu midfielder Manti Mekoa have also started businesses.
