Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mark Mayambela is one of a few PSL soccer players who had other dreams in life besides football.
Even though 'Professor' was brilliant with numbers at school, he chose to follow his football rather than pursue his dream job of being an accountant.
"My favourite teacher at high school was Mam Mabhozwane. She liked me even though she teased me about football. She felt I would do better academically because I was a smart boy in class," Mayambela tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"My favourite subject was accounting. I even did it on higher grade. I always wanted to be an accountant.
"The subject I did not like was Afrikaans because I felt it was useless for me to learn Afrikaans. I had a question in my mind that, "What am I going to do with Afrikaans in the future?'"
We spoke to a few other current and former players to find out about their favourite subjects at school – read about them in the gallery above!
