Freddy Adu had the world at his feet as a 14-year-old teenager who signed a professional contract with DC United in the United States. What followed was nothing like the fairytale story that beckoned.
After hitting the big time in the MLS, the 25-year-old has spent the last ten years on a journey to nowhere as far as his playing career is concerned. Now, the only clubs interested in Adu’s services are night clubs, if recent promotional fliers he’s featured on are anything to go by.
However after news broke out about his new gig as a party promoter in Washington DC, the Ghanaian-born attacker took to social media to vehemently deny this and blamed the media for spreading rumours about his new found occupation.
Touted as ‘the next Pele’ in during his teenage years, Adu’s last stint as a footballer was in Serbia where he was contracted to third division club, Jagodina, which was his tenth team in as many years.
