George Lebese: Coronavirus can't stop ex-Kaizer Chiefs stars' career rebirth in USA

George Lebese secured a move abroad after a nightmare spell at Mamelodi Sundowns and not even the coronavirus pandemic is halting his career rebirth within the lavish United States surroundings.

The 31-year-old earned a surprise move to the USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks after four months in the football wilderness after being released by Sundowns.

Joining fellow South African Alan Koch, who manages the second-tier outfit, Lebese has not been deterred by the global pandemic that has put the world on hold over the past months.

27.01.20 - The journey begins

With a simple date caption on his official Instagram, the fleet-footed winger posted an emotional video of his departure from Mzansi, with his family sending him off at OR Tambo.

In what is his first foray abroad, Lebese has updated his loyal fans with images in training sessions, his stylish Puma apparel, driving around in luxury cars with teammates and his progression in friendly fixtures.

Corona can't keep Lebese down

Not only has Lebese revived his spirits away from the PSL, but fans of the Colorado-based outfit have also taken to him, even before his official debut for the club.

During a recent excursion, images surfaced of replica Lebese no.17 shirts being worn by a surrounding supporter, as well as unique T-Shirts seemingly aimed at those in Mzansi.

Did you know?

Lebese's favourite PSL player was the late Gift Leremi.
