Polokwane City and Durban City shared the spoils in a lacklustre goalless draw in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening.
Simon Ramabu came in as the sole change for Polokwane from the win over Siwelele FC, while the visitors featured recalled Joslin Kamatuka ahead of Jean Lubamba.
The promoted boys targeted a fast start in the opening minute when a ball over the top released Samkelo Maseko, but he failed to beat the on-rushing goalkeeper Brian Bwire.
Rise and Shine came into their own moments later and worked an opening where a surging effort outside the area by Sapholwethu Kelepu went wide of the net.
It didn’t end there for the host who applied more pressure towards the break, with Manuel Kambala going close with a glancing header that sailed wide of the mark.
Polokwane made a substitution ahead of the second half and introduced Thato Letshedi in the place of Banele Mnguni.
The two teams continued to cancel out each other following the resumption of the second stanza, with chances few and far between and both teams reduced to shots from range.
Gavin Hunt’s boys, who won their opening two matches of the season, remained compact all-round amidst the pressure from the host.
Despite the limited clear-cut chances ahead of full-time, there was no in the end, forcing the two sides two settle for a share of the spoils.
