Matsatsantsa were stretched in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D opener, as Thuso Phala equalised late for the hosts after teammate Keagan Ritchie's goal was sandwiched by efforts from Jean Francios Ebele and Sebe Baffour at Lucas Moripe Stadium last night.
"I think it was quite a good game of football," said Baxter. "First half was not 100 percent and that made it difficult to press properly and difficult to play through in the right way. But I thought in the second half when we changed the structure it was much better and our possession was more effective. We created more chances, we controlled the game better in the second half.
"The boys showed character because the schedule we have has been heavy. But the boys showed character to come back twice and show that they wanted to win. As a coach I wanted to win but I am pleased how the players approached the game. But a draw at home is not what we were looking for."
Horoya counterpart Victor Svunka was also not entirely satisfied to return to Guinea with a point.
"I think 2-2 is not a bad result. But as a coach I prefer to win and go back home with a win than a draw. Looking at the game we had more chances than them. It’s a not a bad score but as a coach I prefer winning than drawing."
