Orlando Pirates star Rakhale vows to stay grounded

His trickery on the ball has earned him the nickname 'Jomo' after Pirates great Jomo Sono.

Rakhale has become a favourite amongst the Buccaneers faithful - as evidenced in the Carling Black Label Cup voting - since he broke into the team toward the latter part of last season.

The skilful winger scored a sublime goal in the 1-0 away win over Tunisian side CS Sfaxien in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday to put Pirates in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages after three pool games.

"It's a great feeling [fan appreciation] but I have to keep my mind on what I do best, keep my feet on the ground and focus more," Rakhale said upon the team's arrival from Tunisia at the OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old went on to describe his cheeky finish which gave the Soweto giants all three points to remain in second place behind Zamalek in Group B.

"I saw the keeper going out of his line because he thought I was going to cross the ball so I decided to go for a chip.

"I feel happy about the goal because I helped the team get maximum points and I should also thank the guys for contributing to the win."

He concluded: "I've been waiting for my chance and I'm happy that im using it. It all goes back to working hard."
