Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler eyes CAF Confederation Cup triumph

The Buccaneers will contest tournament honours with Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel in a two-legged final next month.

Pirates - Champions League victors in 1995 and finalists in 2013 - have never won the second-tier continental event.

"I joined the club to win trophies," says Tinkler, who was promoted to the Bucs hotseat in the off-season after a spell as caretaker boss following Vladimir Vermezovic's exit last term.

"In the conversations with the chairman [Irvin Khoza] he has always spoken about the importance of wanting to leave a legacy at this club, and that will be a phenomenal legacy to leave if we could win this competition which the club has never won before.

"That is the objective I set for myself and I know the players have also set themselves that objective for themselves as well because they want to leave the same legacy."

However, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder is mindful the job is far from over.

"We got to the finals but we still have a job to do. We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves because the job is not done yet.

"It's been a long tough road but the journey is not over. We still have a job to ensure we win the trophy."

The Sea Robbers arrived back in the country on Tuesday after seeing off Egyptian giants Al-Ahly 5-3 on aggregate on the weekend.
