Jerry Sikhosana challenges Kermit Erasmus ahead of Confederation Cup Final with Etoile du Sahel

The Buccaneers will take on Etoile du Sahel in Sousse and Sikhosana, who won the CAF Champions League with Pirates in 1995 after he scored the winner against Asec Mimosas in Abidjan, has singled out Erasmus to step up his game for the match in North Africa.

“This Pirates team has everything, but if you are looking for one player to go out there and make things happen for the team it is the jersey number 95 [Erasmus]. I’m putting my money on him to drive the team and make us proud,” he says.

“I believe he should have done better in the first leg, but we know that when Erasmus plays well the team plays well. I was booed in 1995 for not scoring when I had a good chance in the first leg of the final at FNB Stadium and I wanted to prove people wrong. So Kermit finds himself in a similar situation and he is the player I will single out in saying he needs to up his game for the second leg,” he adds.

Erasmus has scored five goals in 13 appearances in the Confederation Cup, while his teammate Thamsanqa Gabuza is the joint-top scorer with six goals along with Etoile du Sahel’s Baghdad Bounedjah and CF Mounana’s Georges Ambourouet.
