The defender, who sat out the CAF Champions League Final return leg against Al-Ahly two years ago, hopes to make up for that missed opportunity.
“I'm very honoured to lead the team in the absence of our captain Oupa Manyisa. It happened before in 2013 and I showed character by leading the team to the Final,” Jele says.
“So now it is another opportunity to lead the team and I'm hopeful that the team will do well in the first and second leg.
“There is a lot of senior players in the team. There is a lot of leadership and whatever comes will lead the team.
“So for me I'm just here to support the team and I'm very honoured to be part of this team.”
Pirates will host the first leg against Etoile on the weekend of November 21/22. Jele feels it is crucial the Buccaneers impress at Orlando Stadium.
“It is very important for us as a team to do well at home. So far our record away has been good and we want to make sure that at home we get a good result, so that when we go away we don't have enough pressure the same we had in 2013 whereby we played a draw at home and lost 2-0 away.
