“It was exactly what we expected, they are a very good team defensively, well organised, they make it very difficult for you to break them down and they look to play on the counter,” Tinkler said after the game.
“We created a couple of chances in the first half, I thought we could have possibly come in at half-time at 2-0, the chance that we had on the one-v-one with the keeper, I thought Thabo [Matlaba] should have at least put that one in and we could have at least been at half-time 2-0.
“But a gutsy performance, they were playing on the counter, they caught us once or twice, they were a little bit dangerous but I thought we defended very, very well.
“We obviously let ourselves down in the dying minutes with the set-piece, which we knew was one of their threats but I thought they got a bit of a lucky bounce and we got punished.
“It’s ended 1-1, I can't fault the boys, I think they all worked extremely hard, nothing gained nothing lost.
“We need to go there and get a goal and we are capable of doing that and then we're back in the tie.”
Tinkler also slammed the behaviour of the Tunisian side and their technical team after one of their officials was sent to the stands.
“There was a lot of acting on their part, the striker must have taken about seven dives, he looked like an Olympic swimmer. But that’s what you expect from these guys,” he said.
“We’ve seen it time and time again when you play these North African teams, they look to fool the referee and you’ve got to expect that, but I thought the referee dealt with it very, very well today.
“Quite a few people on their bench deserved red cards as well, I thought their behaviour was actually quite shocking.”
