“I think the brand of football has been very good. I don't think people will complain because the games have been entertaining if anything," Tinkler says.
“Good for the fans when we lost 4-1 [against Zamalek in Group B action], not good for us. Good for the fans when Zamalek lost 5-1 and if you look at our results against Al-Ahly and it is 4-3, it is an entertaining game," he says, referring to the semi-final win last weekend.
“And that's good for football when we see goals. If it is a good advert for football in general, I think it is particularly for CAF competition because as South Africans we need to take these competitions a lot more seriously. I don't think we do and how do we do that? By producing entertaining football. I think that's how we do it and that will draw the crowds to be more interested in these competitions."
He adds: "It's been a long journey, in 10 months we have played a lot of games. We've seen a number of players, talented youngsters out there in Africa."
