Eddie Motale says Eric Tinkler must stick with Ayanda Gcaba

The Buccaneers host Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel in the first leg at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night, and most expect Rooi Mahamutsa to reclaim his place alongside Siyabonga Sangweni.

But ‘Magents’ says Gcaba has outdone himself lately and what’s broken does not need to be fixed.

“Firstly, I think Pirates need to be commended for the manner they’ve conducted themselves throughout the competition,” he tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“To reach the Final they showed determination and will, and they’ve also had the hunger and desire to win. They planned well for it and utilised their plan.

“Going into the game, I think Tinkler must keep the winning team. Yes, we’ve missed Oupa [Manyisa], but Pirates have a huge pool of players to choose from and I think a lot of guys have stood up.

“Even at the back, I know Rooi will be expected to play, but I think Tinkler must not fix something that is not broken. Ayanda has been doing well, he hasn’t set a foot wrong and he should stick to that combination with Sangweni.

“Sometimes it also helps to have a strong bench. When Gcaba is playing, constantly he is thinking about how strong the guys on the bench are and that is why he has been giving his all.”
