Zamalek president Mortada Manosur and entire board suspended - African football news

Mansour, 68, was recently kicked out of Parliament after the latest elections which leaves him without diplomatic immunity as of 1 January 2021.

The controversial White Knights leader known for his outlandish media outburst has been subject to 12 official complaints to the Public Prosecutor including from Al Ahly's president Mahmoud El-Khatib.

And the latest blow comes after the Egyptian Olympic Committee slapped him with a four-year ban from all sporting activities as well as a R100 000 fine after receiving complaints from the Egyptian Football Association amongst several other sporting federations in Egypt.

The Ministry of Sports confirmed on Sunday that Mansour, along with the club's board members has been suspended, pending an investigation into 'financial irregularities' within the institution.

His son and director of transfers, Amir Mortada, has since tendered his resignation as the rest of the board awaits the outcome of the investigation.

Under Mansour's leadership, Zamalek has risen towards the upper echelons of African football again with five Egyptian Cup triumphs, the CAF Confederation Cup, Super Cup and one Egyptian Premier League title.
