Pitso Mosimane on coaching Manchester United - Europe is not ready for African coaches

Pitso Mosimane says European clubs are not 'ready' to take the chance on African coaches after being told he could lead Manchester United.

Mosimane is on course for a third consecutive CAF Champions League title with Al Ahly after leading them to the group stages after a 7-2 aggregate victory over Nigerian side USGN.

In the wake of the achievement, fans on social media suggested the former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach could restore the glory days at United after their humiliating 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

But Mosimane believes it may take a few generations before Africans would be entrusted with some of the most high-profile managerial jobs in world football.

"Europe is not yet ready for this. Maybe to our great-grandchildren. At least Al Ahly changed the narrative and provided a free education," he wrote on his official Twitter account.

"Now we have archives from this story to show our children that it is possible."

Mosimane broke barriers by becoming the first non-Egyptian African and first black coach to lead the Club of the Century and has won consecutive African Champions League titles, the Egypt Cup and led them to third place at the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup in his first year in charge.
