Carteron shocked the CAF Champions League semi-finalists on Tuesday evening after handing in his resignation and forking out R2-million to buy himself out his current contract just weeks before their clash against Raja Casablanca.
Despite the plea from president Mortada Mansour, the two-time African Champions League winner made his intentions clear that he would prefer to leave after receiving an offer from Saudi Pro League side Altaawoun FC.
Mansour told Zamalek TV that he offered to make the necessary calls to his future employers to convince them to allow the former TP Mazembe boss to see out the 2019/20 season but Carteron insisted with the termination of the deal.
The Asian Champions League participants have now confirmed that he's agreed a two-year deal which will be signed when they meet up in Qatar on Thursday while also denying former Al Ahly honorary president Turki El Sheikh funded the deal.
It's believed that Carteron will be earning R8.2-million a month at the Saudi Arabian club who's 2020/21 domestic season will kick off in October.
Meanwhile, Zamalek is said to have reached out to Jamie Pacheco, one of their former coaches to succeed Carteron after his abrupt departure.
