Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Gamondi named Wydad Casablanca interim coach

Gamondi was hired as Wydad technical director in January this year as they looked to restructure the club after an indifferent start to the campaign but the upheaval has continued as he becomes their fifth coach of the season.

Former Villarreal and Al Ahly manager Miguel Garrido has been sacked with immediate effect after their 1-1 draw against FAR Rabat yesterday which leaves them four points behind leaders Raja Casablanca albeit with a game in hand.

snl24.com/kickoff understands that Wydad hierarchy were concerned about the dropping levels of motivation since the Botola restarted and prompted to relieved the Spaniard of his duties.

Gamondi and Neil Tovey held joint head coach roles at Masandawana.

In a desperate attempt to reinvigorate the squad ahead of their last-four tie against Al Ahly, Gamondi, who won the South African top-flight more than a decade ago as joint-manager with Neil Tovey will now lead the side on a temporary basis.

The well-travelled Argentine had stints in Algeria, the United Arab Emirates and with WAC's domestic rivals Hassania Agadir before assuming his role at the 20-time league champions.
