Ex-Kaizer Chiefs target Patrice Carteron terminates Zamalek contract

With the CAF Champions League semi-final against Raja Casablanca looming, news of the Frenchman's departure has rocked the Egyptian Premier League giants.

Carteron is said to have contacted president Mortada Mansour on Monday where he confirmed that he would activate his own contract termination clause worth a reported R2-million after receiving a lucrative offer elsewhere.

The two-time CAF Champions League-winning coach was earning an estimated R4-million a month with the White Knights and is believed to have attracted interest from a host of clubs in the Gulf region.

Once a target for Kaizer Chiefs before the hiring of Giovanni Solinas in 2018, Carteron has an incredible track record of silverware and added the Egyptian and CAF Super Cup titles to his name after succeeding Milutin Sredojevic in December.
