The 55-year-old holds extensive experience in African football since first arriving on the continent with Coton Sport in Cameroon 13 years ago before taking over the senior national team in 2011.
Lavagne then moved on to North Africa with Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel for a season in 2013 but his foray into Egyptian football with Ittihad Alexandria propelled him into the limelight with the African giants.
"In 2014 when I coached Ittihad we had a great season and the two big teams in Egypt, Ahly and Zamalek were interested in me but I moved on to Saudi Arabia [with Narjan SC]," Lavagne explains to snl24.com/kickoff.
Lavagne's last job on the continent saw him step into the spotlight once again with Algerian Ligue 1 side CS Constantine where he led the club languishing in the relegation zone upon his appointment to incredible achievements.
With notable financial restraints, the former Ea Lla Koto coach was denied a place in the CAF Champions League semi-finals by eventual winners Esperance de Tunis, while also earning a place in the last four of the Algerian Cup.
His 3-0 win over DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the group stages also draw plenty of media interest around the continent as he emerged a firm fan favourite amongst the CSC supporters.
However, after leaving CSC due to disagreements with the club's hierarchy, he's now open to returning to South Africa, should he be provided with a foundation to create success in the Absa Premiership and continental competitions.
"For the moment I didn't receive concrete offers of any club, just some agents asked me for information and about my current situation," he confirmed.
"African football is my passion and African footballers are great. I would be open to returning [to the PSL] if I can work in a good club.
"When you have the experience of winning in Tunisia and excellent records in the Champions League with numerous clubs, you can back yourself perform anywhere on the continent.
"Every coach needs good players and a solid structure to achieve results."
